A real moth set and mounted in a 6×6 inch wooden frame, approximately 1 inch deep. 

The Oleander Hawk moth or ‘army green moth’ belongs to the Sphingidae family. They are a large moth which can be found in wide areas of Africa, Asia and some Hawaiian islands. The species migrates, flying to parts of eastern and southern Europe during the summer. Oleander Hawk moths are also widespread in the UK, although rare. They are more commonly found in southern parts of England, along coastal areas.

Description

The Oleander Hawk moth has a greenish head, with a camouflage like colouration comprising of various shades of green and grey. Whilst they can be found in the UK, the species migrate here from other areas of Europe. As a result, they are not necessarily seen every year in the UK.

After dusk, this species can be seen feeding on tubular flowers, such as honeysuckle and tobacco between August and October.

Adult Oleander Hawk moths have a typical wingspan of 3.5-5.1inches (9-13cm).

How to display

This frame comes with a single brass hanging hook which can be screwed into the rear of the frame, allowing you to hang it on a wall.

Alternatively, the frame is deep enough to stand freely by itself on a shelf.
Where to display

To preserve the colours of your specimen, it's best not to display your frame in direct sunlight. You should also avoid areas of high moisture, such as bathrooms and kitchens.
